About 6 years ago my family decided to become vegetarian/vegan, at first I was too young to understand why we had cut meat out of our diet, I thought that it was a stupid thing to do as I had grown up eating meat; as I got older I began to appreciate it more and realized that we had done it to become healthier, because of this (and cruelty animals go through to become ‘food’) I decided to change my diet and become a vegan.
When I first became vegan I found it hard to find vegan friendly recipes, so I started looking online and came across a few vegan blogs with simple recipes that anyone could make and they used ingredients that were already in the pantry. I think the blogs have helped me to realize that eating animal free is not that hard to do and that you don’t have to use super expensive ingredients just to eat animal free. My dad also helped me to develop my knowledge of animal free eating, he has shown me how to substitute animal products such as dairy, eggs and ways to improve things that I have made if they don’t taste right.
Eating Animal Free has had a huge impact on my body. While being vegan I have noticed:
- less headaches
- improved digestion
- better looking skin (less pimples and blackheads)
- easier to maintain a healthy weight
- I am happy
- I have a lot more energy
