While I was on holidays I did work experience with a family friend, that helped me set up this blog. We were going over everything and tweaking it so that it was fully functional, and she told me to try and get some products so that I could review them. That’s how I came across the Harvest Box, I didn’t know much about them but I read the story of how it came together and I loved it, so here it is:
In 2010, three Aussie best mates decided they were a bit over chips and chocolate and realised that, if they wanted healthier snack options, other folks probably did too. So they set up the harvest box and started devising healthy mixes of dried fruit, seeds, crackers and treats to send all over Australia in natty cardboard boxes. Snackers around the country were overjoyed to have nutritious nibbles delivered to their homes and desks every week – yay! They have experimented with more than 100 healthy combinations and now we’re bringing the very best of them to you through the post and in-store, with our range of snack packs, health bombs, chia bars, and Flavours of the world!
I got a notification from my local post office saying that I had a parcel to pick up, I had no idea what it was. I picked it up after I got home from school, when I was opening the box I had a bit of trouble trying to get into it, when it was open I realised it was from Harvest Box. I received six products from them (Berry Bazooka Health Bombs, Roasted Pistachios, A mix of nuts, Gogo Goji Health Bombs, Go Bananas Trail Mix and Banana Smoothie Health Bombs), these products are 40-45g sizes which are perfect for snacking or lunchboxes.
All the products are made in Australia from local and imported ingredient, gluten free and packed in a recyclable brown paper package designed to keep your products fresh.
I took these to school and I loved them. I thought about writing an overall review on the products, but I thought that I couldn’t really judge the products like that because they were all different.
Berry Bazooka Health Bombs: To be honest, these weren’t my favourite. They smelt amazing in the packet but they had a rather interesting taste. They were also different to what I expected them to be, I thought that they might be like protein balls but they are like little bite size ‘bombs’. As I was biting into them, they were crunchy (puffed rice and quinoa) which I didn’t expect. I did like the coconut around the outside of the bomb, I thought that was really nice.
Roasted Pistachios: I took these to school in my lunchbox; they were the perfect size; the packet wasn’t too big or too small that I couldn’t eat it in time. They were fresh, crunchy and lightly salted which I love, but when I first saw that I thought ‘oh maybe I will only eat a few, I don’t want to eat too much salt’ but the amount of salt was perfect. The only problem I had was having to de-shell every nut, it was abit annoying and time-consuming, but I’m just lazy…
We love Nuts Mix: I loved these, they were just what I was after. I had these when I got home from school, they are the perfect snack. All the nuts are lightly salted, which I prefer with some nuts (Peanuts, Cashews ect.) This mix contained cashews, Brazil nuts, almonds and peanuts, I was actually surprised that I liked this as I don’t like Brazil nuts.
Go Bananas Trail Mix: This was the first product that I tried. I loved it although there were too many goji berries for my liking, all the other ingredients went well together. I was surprised at how fresh everything was, the seeds were still crunchy not soggy as if they were in the packet for a long time. I was actually really excited to try this product, and I was not let down; it tastes as good as it looks on the packet.
If you are interested in buying and of these products head to your local Coles, Kmart or Online. I was surprised at how well priced these products were, for a box with similar products that I got its $7.95 a week, but if you get them regularly they price reduces.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to try your products, I hope you liked my review.
